Regarding qico connections to Bjorn's system... you are close here:
> Have you ruled out the possibility that Benny misunderstood Janis, that Janis >never claimed she could not connect to your system and that the reason you see > no traces of Janis in your logs is simply that she never tried to connect to > your system?
Regarding the supposed "failed" connection to Bjorn's system:
It happened simply because as you suspected there was a misunderstanding.. The wrong info given - Benny is not always easy to understand and I expect he doesn't always understand me as well.
Benny had asked me to test his qico. He gave me 2:203/0 but Benny's own domain when I asked what node# and domain he wanted me to test...
Of course that was Bjorn's node number which didn't click for me just then since I was buried in some other work when he contacted me - This was in IM (like icq).
With bbbs at the time, to call a node direct who is not in your dialing list, you had to enter the node#/domain in a config file (new BBBS beta removes that now).
That's I why asked Benny "what node number and what domain". Then I realized the domain he'd given me was for 2:230/0 and NOT 2:203/0... _Of course_ the attempts to 2:203/0 at Benny's domain failed.
Then, later there were problems dialing HIS system from mine direct to 2:230/0 because BBBS kept returning a response of Remote: Bad address which Benny blamed on BBBS, but I had not gotten that response with any mailer except his qico. I guess that did turn out to be a bug in qico or benny's setup or something else, I don't remember now.
