You might know that we have quite a few Swedes (of the Pirate Party) more or less permanently stationed in Brussels? Every winter they blog e.g. about the few occasions when Brussels get a few centimetres of snow. And it's always the same: the city comes to a total stand-still, all communications are defunct, it's all a big chaos.
Yeah, well, you've seen Luleå, you've seen Finland and you've seen Montana, you of course know what it's like with *real* winter conditions, but how many of your countrymen do you think have even the slightest clue? 8-)

Absolutely true! The first ten or so years that I had a car, special winter tires might have been invented, but I definitely could not afford it. I sometimes drove my two old Volvo PVs and later on my two Mercedes 220S through several decimetres of snow without any major problems. Now I'm not even legally allowed to drive my Volvo S80, with every three-letter combination of assistance, through two centimetres of snow?
Everything is not better today -- especially not the competence of the car drivers...
