I know the feeling. One of the most important tasks I set upon myself when Anita and I got kids 40 years ago, was to make absolutely sure they got the best grip possible of our native language.
It seems like it was a good task, since now our daughter is a doctor (of medicine) and our son is a civil engineer.
So, after 67 years I can only conclude that giving your children the best ever language education possible is probably the best you can do for them. YMMV...
That's probably one of the reasons I still can't stop trying to educate myself in the area -- after all I now have two grandchildren to "take care of". :)
