The people of the Midi are very different to those further north. We used to do exchanges with schools in the South-West and, although the teachers were polite enough to us, it never seemed very genuine and we always felt unwelcome and a bit of a nuisance. It was quite different when we did an exchange near Paris. One of the staff that we were staying with even loaned me her car!
