When filling in forms for a trip to Austria by my pupils, I was advised by our German teacher (who actually was German) to describe a female teacher as "Weibliche Lehrkraft". I suppose that's fairly formal.

Mrs and Ms.
"Mrs" is for a married woman, "Ms" can be either married or single but they don't want you to know which! (That's an Americanism that has crept into the UK!)
