This is where almost all USAians differ so much from the 96% of the non-USAians on this planet.
Over here in (socialist?) Europe we are well aware of the fact that we spend a lot more of what we earn via taxes in order to get a safe haven when we no longer are classified as "prime productive citizens".
In your home country, I would hate to be a 70-year old citizen as I am now. Here in Sweden I'm now able to enjoy the comfort of all those taxes I've paid for more than 50 years. I get something like EUR30k per year in return and with not a single penny owning to the bank for my house I feel quite happy with the outcome of "the Swedish Model".
