Some people just have to have the latest version. It's the same with smart phones, TV-sets, cars and similar stuff.

I'm quite satisfied with my version. I've compiled it myself a couple of times over the years (fixed a few minor issues to satisfy my needs) and have absolutely no urge to get the latest version. With new exciting bugs... 8-)
Oh, BTW, I also stopped updating any of my WinXP and Win7 boxes many years ago...
