First my binkd will try to call fixed hostname, in your case felten.yi.org.
If that fails, it will try the last known successful hostname, in your case 90-231-158-147-no236.tbcn.telia.com.
If that fails, it will try to call '*', which expands to f0.n203.z2.fidonet.rbb.bbs.fi.
If it will try to call unlisted system, there's nothing else to do but believe the nodelist (dns).
I don't see any security problems.
When Ward let his dyndns account to expire, my system didn't notice that. My system kept on polling because it knew the last working ip.
