you understand it backwards, i provide info to your jamnntpd to make it possible to you to map this charset from latin-1 to uf8 in thunderbird so thunderbird see it as if i did write it in utf8 here, but that would be transperant to you that way
on the other side you provide utf8 to me, with is for me a dead end since my msged does not know what utf8 is

should i repeat why you should not WRITE utf8, but read and translate is ok from other chrs that is supported in fidonet, and i think you can manage that very well with jamnntpd
