I find the most difficult thing with cherries is to pick the correct time for harvesting. Usually, they want to be harvested *now*, neither yesterday nor tomorrow. And around harvesting time, they're quite sensitive to rain that will make them explode and rot.
But cherries also grow in Scandinavia, so German weather should not be a real issue for them.
