Then we share the same opinion. I had understodd the initial comment in a way that 10G equipment is always expensive, and that's not true anymore as at least host interfaces and switches have become quite affordable.

No, I won't be diappointed, we don't need full 10G at that point, anyway. It just wasn't much more expensive to have the 10G interfaces (see above ;-), so we went for that. We will definitely be able to handle more than 1G traffic, but probably never reach 10G. It'll be interesting to see how much bandwidth we'll actually be able to process.
