I doubt that the majority will learn anything. Most people are simply naive and believe whatever top politicians matching their political direction say. Or it boosts their opinion ("that's what I've always said"). They don't check facts and don't think about long term implications. The new term for that is post-truth politics. Might be correlated with social media. You're overwhelmed with so much information, opinions and what have you that you spend your time only with reading and watching the latest. No time left for contemplating.
