Sure, each country will interpret the GDPR differently. In Germany each state has its own office for privacy protection which handles the GDPR. So the states might have different ideas too.
This discussion is about doing a risk assessment for Fidonet and figuring out a way to deal with the GDPR. Unfortunately the majority of nodes likes to simply ignore things and hopes nothing will happen because we're too unimportant. It would be great if it would work this way, still we have to do the risk assessment for all Fidonet regions in the EU.
For example, if Austria would say that the GDPR doesn't apply to Fidonet R24 could join R32 with an RC in Austria to circumvent the German interpretation of the GDPR.
