Back then we had fun too. Suddenly BBSs were required to register with the local office for privacy protection. Actually it was quite simple, just a simple formular with a few pages. Some time later the requirement was dropped. I still got the confirmation :)
And some years ago when running my own company I had to deal with the data preservation for the email service we offered. That law was withdrawn after a while.
