The idea is to set the dupe history to a reasonable period and adjust tooOld accordingly. For example, if you set the dupe history to 180 days you would set tooOld also to 180 days. This way the sysop doesn't have to keep the dupe history for several years or even longer which speeds up tossing.

The echo messages considered too old are moved to the BAD area. So the sysop can export them if needed or delete them when they are just junk.
