Versailles indeed. But the American demand to call in all loans (in gold) to postwar Germany after the Great Depression started in the USA didn't help. Nor did the French occupation of the Saar.

In my opinion, you simplify too much.

Peanuts, when you think of the seizure of the Trade Name "Aspirin" under the same Act. Bayer bought the trademark back in the last few years, but until then it was a generic.
