A "jailed fool" who conquered more of Europe than anyone since Napoleon. Let's not be too naive, please.
And let's all remember that Napoleon was no "gentle ruler" - or have all forgotten the "concierges" (German: Blockwarte) installed to spy on the inhabitants of a building? They were installed by Napoleon.
The main difference between Napoleon and Hitler was the virulent antisemitism (and rapacious extermination of minorities) of Hitler. Who made the fatal mistake of killing or driving to expatriation scientific and other valuable people instead of winning them over and using them for his own purposes.
And that at a time when the greatest scientific minds in Europe were jewish. In that respect, Hitler was indeed a fool. But not in the sense you imply above.
Why is Napoleon honored even to this day in France, and Hitler damned almost everywhere? Compare the two. There is one major difference (see above).
