You are in error. The "official language" in a number of states is English. The reason for such a law was, in most cases, the rise of Spanish use in some states and thje consequent fear of locals that they might become a language minority in their own state.
Such a case might be concieveable in Germany if Turkish were to be suggested as an "official language", which at present might be locally de facto the case, but certainly not statewide or nationally.
