Try "in the interest of the German people". Not "in the interest of saving the world". The Germany I came to in 1966 had no mosques and no burkahs. It was Germany.
Even the western European guest workers (Italy, France, Spain, Greece) assimilated well. The present problem is exclusively one of muslims, who refuse to be assimilated (remember Erdogan saying: assimilation is genocide"?), and unfortunately represent a fairly large minority in the country.
Many of these people, particularly in the second and third generations, are secular muslims who are willing and able to assimilate and treat religion as a private matter, not a political one. I know several of thgem, and have absolutely no problems with such an attitude.
Unfortunately, there are many first-generation muslins here who regard "germanization" as a "threat" and separate themselves voluntarily from the mainstream society. Those are the ones who cause the most trouble here. The "man on the street" in Germany doesn't want them, and they don't want him, but are unwilling to return to a country where they are a majority - just too many advantages in Germany.
