I'm sure many people who had an Apple I computer felt the same way - but if they didn't throw them away, something like that is worth thousands nowadays. Yes, we're _that_ old, that things we had as young people are now "antiques" with corresponding value.

I understand your situation perfectly, since I don't throw things away either - I still have an Atari ST+ with all periphery and programs, but haven't had it running for surely 20 years - but if at all possible would advise you to keep such things as you mention - if not for yourself, then for your children. Look for a rental storehouse such as they have them in the States. My parents had one for 25 years (although when they died, I was in Germany and my sister was in no position to really estimate the values).

What's "junk" now may well be a valuable antique in 20 years.

Persian carpets are now a drug on the market in Germany, but were very scarce and expensive when I was 30-40 years old. You can buy one - a really GOOD one - for less than EUR 100 nowadays. But I've heard that Iranians are buying them up to sell in Iran, since the Iranians still value quality over newness.

But wait 10-20 years, and my guess is that the Germans will again be drooling over such things - but since so many people threw them away, will have to pay high prices for them.

Cheers, Bob
