Like to name another state of the USA that was first an independent nation, recognized by countries other than the USA (1836-1845)? And which joined the USA voluntarily, rather than being annexed?
Know what a "vara" is? It's a Spanish land measurement used prior to (voluntary) incorporation of Texas into the USA, and still present in many (valid) land measurements in Texas. The farm my grandmother used to own was measured in varas.
Learn your Texas history before you go out on a limb. Not all of it was concerned with the Alamo.
