Bjorn or Felten? I could play the same game if I insisted my name be properly written (with the correct pronunciation). I am not "Roh-burt Bah-shee", but I have no desire to confuse people so I use the pronunciation exclusively nowadays. I tried to use the correct pronunciation on the phone when I first came to Germany, but gave that up quickly after numberous misspellings. Even so, I often get things addressed to "Bahse", "Baske" or "Basch". Get used to it if you weren't born in the country you live in. Without help, a native German can't pronounce "Bashe" as it is pronounced in the States, The "a" is a dipthong", and the "e" is silent.
When in Rome... you know the old saying. Now we're in fido, in an English area.
What do you do when someone writes English (or Russin, for that matter), in a Dutch echo? Damn and condemn them? Fido is for communication, not for polishing egos.

Maybe. But I'll leave that to you, if you can read Russian. My interest in fido would disappear overnight. And frankly, I'm getting very tired of this running joke of Bjoern. And am surprised you defend it. But in view of your rigorous attitude regarding "Holland" (used by most people) and "The Netherlands", I suppose your defence was inevitable. What do you call yourself, then? A "Netherlander", "Dutchman", "Hollander", a "NLer" or something else? I think we all now in ther meantime where your are, but in view of your attitude it's sometimes hard to know how to refer to you.
