Do you change texts from other people when you "quote" them? I generally prefer not to. That would be, in my opinion, falsification of what others write. Not really a nice character trait.

I read up on Germany before I ever set foot in this country, not that I felt myself to be an "expert" on the subject afterwards. In fact, I made many mistakes in the initial years. But naturally YOU make no such mistakes. Mustbe a good feeling to be such a perfect operson.
