==============================================================================
I wrote the message below yesterday and worked all this morning on this problem. At first, I could no longer ping either the DNS alias or the IP, just getting a Timeout.

After several hours of frustration and cursing, changes in the configuration of my software updating the IP, suddenly,just before noon, both the DNS alias and the IP could be pinged successfully. I'm wondering whether my DNS alias provider has had problems, since I didn't effectively change anything in my configuration.

I would appreciate it if any of you could ping the alias and if that works, send me a brief crashmail to see if that gets through.

I have no idea what's going on now. I've determined that Torsten Bamberg is offline and have stopped polling him for the time being, but as of today, my own system has had NO incoming polls at all. I generally get several a day, and my point is telling me by email that he isn't able to reach me with binkd either.

My DNS alias remains at: abel.spdns.eu

And the IP address at the moment is 89.247.237.247 - but that changes regularly. I've pinged the DNS alias from my work computer and there were no problems. Could anyone please just ping the alias for me, to make sure it is getting outside my home network? Or just send me a dummy message?

This is driving me crazy.

Cheers, but badly frustrated, Bob
