You're talking about a condominium, then. I know this racket: you "buy" a condo, and then have all the disadvantages of property (taxes) and all the disadvantages of rental (monthly payments to the "community"). No freedom at all, as you have - at least to a limited extent - when you buy a "real" property.
This is why I personally would never buy such a thing, although my wife did exactly that for our son. A two-bedroom apartment, fairly new, in a good section of Datteln. The price was only a trifle less than what I paid for my present house (large red brick two-story house in the center of Datteln) in 1984. God only knows what my house is presently worth. But I have no intention of selling before I land in a casket.
