It presumably doesn't hurt that her father is fluent in English ;-))
My son, although raised in an exclusively German-speaking household (as he is autististic, my wife and I tried to make things easier for him by not speaking two languages), is meanwhile also fluent in English. However, we still mostly speak German at home.
