How many years of Latin did you have? In the States, this was unfortunately a minor subject in high school. I took only one year of Latin and we moved in the middle of a semester: new book, new teacher. So I didn't learn much. I regret that now, but am too old to really start learning another language. English and German are enough for me. My French exists, but is rudimentary. Plus a bit of Russian (from graduate school) and a few words of Chinese (also graduate school).
I can remember my Russian teacher (a French woman born in China and brought up by a Russian nanny - she was also my Chinese teacher) nicknaming me "Bashkiritz" for one of the ethnic groups in the USSR. It was quite a joke in the class.
