I did, and unfortunately did not understand more than a tiny portion of the explanation. But that's probably not too surprising, if it takes people like Stephen Hawking to understand the situation. Unbelieveable, that he could have been such a genius.
One thing I have to admit is that I'm not much on theory in chemnistry or elsewhere. I picked my doctoral subject as a synthetic organic chemistry problem. Plenty of synthesis, very little theory. Another member of our research group worked on the kinetics of a reaction, and was a really good chemnist. He's meanwhile a retired professor of some reputation. I never came close to him. Naturally, I was jealous as hell - but that didn't change the facts.
