First best wishes to everybody in the new year 2018.
MvdV>>> nlcheckw32 1.00 beta 2017.12.30, Nodelist check utility BP>> something says me that errflags does not work ? :=) WD> It does exactly what it needs to do.
No ErrorFlags is not always doing what is needed. Especially the ERRFLAGS.ZC2 file is incorrect at some places. Some things are filtered away unnecessarry, i.e. old modem flags, or not filtered away, i.e. due to less redundancy flags, which could be done better. See in this message how it can be done.
Baudrates missing: BAUDRATE 12000 21600 38400 56000 57600 64000 115200 128000 230400 It was not consistent, now it is ;-). Many modems have interspeeders, so mine says: CONNECT 57600 at the RS232, even if the phone line speed is 28800 bps. That's why the RS232 serial line speeds should be allowed too. Or remove the RS232 speeds at all and keep only the phone line speeds. If both are mixed, it should be complete, not a halfway mess as it is now. The RS232 serial line speeds are also necessarry to know if the phone line speed and the OnLine Data Compression system have the right volume to work properly. I.e. if V42Bis or V44 is used, the RS232 serial line speed should be at least 2 times higher (better 4 times) than the phone line modem speed determined by its modem flag to operate at ist most usefull effyciency.
They are still possible, even if no one uses it currently, may be new or changed systems want to use them, so make it (still) available, to see all the possibillities to choose from. Mine system for instance accepts FAXes too at V17, V29, V27T and V21ch2.
Remember the FidoNet NodeList is also a BBS list for people who want to log in at BBSes, even at V23 1200/75 bps or Bell202c. And Half Duplex is also possible at some systems. I.e. for a very long time there were some V29 systems in Europe.
Also new modem flags are missing: V44 OnLine DataCompression V92C and V92S 56/64K from/to ISDN modem flags. And in the FidoNet NodeList epilog they are missed too ;-(.
Under Old Stuff there can be moved to: FLAGS V32T VFC
; +------------------------------+ ; ! USER flags ! ; +------------------------------+ USER RC ZC ZEC IC ; was missing and still possible, even if unfullfilled today.
; +-----------------------------------------------------------------+ ; ! Convert certain flags, first value gets changed to the second ! ; +-----------------------------------------------------------------+ CONVERT V22b V22B CONVERT V32b V32B CONVERT V42b V42B CONVERT V32t V32T CONVERT V26b V26B CONVERT V27b V27B CONVERT V27t V27T CONVERT V90c V90C CONVERT V90s V90S CONVERT X2c X2C CONVERT X2s X2S CONVERT V110l V110L CONVERT V110h V110H CONVERT V120l V120L CONVERT V120h V120H CONVERT V92c V92C CONVERT V92s V92S ; i.e. make all flags capital.
Many redundancy flags are not filtered away as could/should be done. Here's my complete version:
I have checked the modem and redundancy flags many times to build this list. So I think your ERRFLAGS.ZC2 version can be updated a lot. And what about the undialable phone numbers with all zero's in the phonefield? That should be "unpublished" I think. Good luck in the new year.
Henri.
