Hm, you never heard aboud the three kinds of notation positions?
I used the most modern variant, namely decimal Grades, i.e. without Minutes and Seconds, but that needs 6 decimals. The software I was using is OpenCPN 4.6.1 for Inland ECDIS, with both the governemental S57 charts (RijksWaterStaat) and the OpenSeaMap charts. My GPS mouse is a USB Nemerix one. When sailing we use the GPS of the AIS. If you are trying hard, you could find out at least the name of the street.
The second version are analogue Grades, but decimal Minutes, without Seconds. 51o 58.128 N 005o 54.265 E
The old version was all three analog, Grades, Minutes and Seconds. 51o 58" 43.679' N and 005o 54" 15.810' E.
The round figures 52o N (Zero Minutes, Zero Seconds) and 6o E (also ZM ZS) are nearby at the North East of Arnhem. At Google Earth you can convert between these 3 I have seen many years back. So in the kind of notation you could see, with one is used by the sender.
Aha, now I see why you are talking about Somalia, I changed N and E ;-(. Sorry, but I thought you know very well were I live? ;-).
