I have read that and thank you for the contribution/suggestion.
Whatever methodology which was offered and proposed by several sides imo will prove to be more disastrous than the cure.
In the past it was always argued, mainly from R50, that too many systems are on autopilot and become broken by multiple diffs in a single week.
Another thing is that the potential for CRC- and other errors is multiplied several times.
So, with all due respect and after consulting several people, I have decided NOT to issue an intermediate diff as the cure is worse than the problem.
Please read today's Fidonews however. Starting today there is going to be a parallel daily distribution of a full nodelist via a file echo DAILYLST.
Not only that way today's error will be corrected tomorrow, it's even possible to send out several nodelists a day if needed. Also new entries will automatically be included the next day, and that's the worst case.
And ... just toss your diff-compiler ... not needed anymore. No opportunity anymore to update zone-A's nodelist with zone-B's diff.
There are already takers for this distribution scheme ...

A new nodelist-distribution By Ward Dossche 2:292/854
Anomalies that are sometimes encountered in the nodelist due to a software malfunction, a manipulation error and anything else up to an act of God are a real annoyance as the update for such a problem will have to wait for at least a week when the next diff is issued.
To circumvent this, in zone-2 this week we will launch a new project where a new full nodelist without a diff will be issued "every" single day. This will be done parallel to Friday's regular nodelist/nodediff production which will continue as before.
The real change is that whomever links in to the new distribution will have a full raw uncompressed nodelist "every" day. The advantage of this approach is that participants do not have to deal with inserting diffs plus that today's problem will be taken care of tomorrow.
The name of the file-echo that will be made available is DAILYLST and it will be hatched by 2:292/854. Hatching will be at 00h15 daily local time.
The name of the file that will be transported is NODELIST with as suffix the Julian-date for that specific day.
To link-in to this file-echo... I do not run a file-echo processor, but anyone expressing interest can get it by simply requesting the link and I'll fix it manually. If we do not have already an established link, then you will need to provide a password for it. Preferably send such a password as an email to 'wd-at-skynet-dot-be'.
