I had a hostname registered with dyndns in their dnsalias.net domain.
I used ddclient to update my IPv4 and Ipv6 address. It worked most of the time, but now looking back there may have been an error in my config files for ddclient. I also added my mx for mail delivery.
I also have my own domain, but there, there are no facillities for changing the address quickly like with dyndns.
To use my own domainname I setup fido.ddutch.nl with a cname to the dnsalias hostname.
As a misery Dutchman I was not prepared to pay for the dyndns service, when it was no longer free. My IP address does not change often a static listing in DNS works just as well.
The last time I got a new IP address was when the provider reorganised his network/hardware.
