Same problem all over Fidonet. Installed a BBS up to 20 years ago. Made some smarts with batch files etc. Lost a lot of current knowledge on the system at that time.
Now use the words if it ain't broke don't fix it. Actually it geez, what smart things did I do there, don't understand it now, better not touch it.
Another problem is nostalgia for things from the past, when Fidonet was POTS only and BBS's where the social media of the time. Neither can be revived.
