If the camera works, you don't need a capture card, firewire will suffice. As said, I use a firewire interface and write the movies directly to *.dv files.
I will check if the camera still works, it is now loading the battery. ......................... It seems to work without the battery. The tape that was still in it is some four or five years old. I have tp look for a firewire cable now.

Before I had this camera I had a Hi8 camera made by Sony, but sold under the Grundig brand. When something in the tape transport broke I bought the current one. I paid special attention to the fact that also analog tapes from my previous camera could be processed. I occasionally recorded Television programs as there is also a vcr mode. Compared to later experiments with video captured from VHS tapes and a capture device, the recordings from the tv to camera were excellent. The out put from video recorders is often distorted under pressure from the Film industry.
Again, if you cannot find another sollution, we should work something out.
