Many people that write in Fdionet have two names. Maybe even the majority. Their Fidonet name is what is listed in the nodelist or the pointlist. The nodelist however is ASCII only. What is listed there is just an "ASCIIfication" of the name that is written on their birth certificate, which is their real name.
The @REALNAME kludge shows the real name of the writer in the characterset that is used for his native language.
I recall having seen it in the past. I have not sen it recently and that makes me wonder if it is still in use.
