I am sure it did not escape your attention that this year the start was in Utrecht. That is just 15 km from where I live, so I just had to see it with my own eyes. The week before I went scouting and drove part of the track with the motorcycle. For Saturday I found a good spot on the Utrecht University Campus. It is familiar territory for me and I know the sneak roads that I expected to get me past the road
For Sunday I had selected Montfoort. A small village some 30 km from the start of stage 2. The same strategy worked out well again. The sneak road I scouted the week before got me within 20 meters of the course.
Yes, it is amazing to see it from cameras mounted on the bikes and the helmets of others in the course. But seeing it with one's own eyes standing beside the track is also a unique experience that I would not have missed...
