Opportunism perhaps. But I think it makes sense from her point of view. I think she sees it coming that the negotiations won't be all that easy and she will not be able to deliver everything the Brexiteers want. Especially when she needs a fiat from parliamanet for every detail.
So she either wants a strong mandate, or someone else to do the job.
