On the contrary/ Because of your translation only the Gremans can see it properly. Only for the Germans there is an official transliteration for vowels with an Umlaut. In Dutch there is no such transliteration and 'oe', 'ae', 'ee' and 'ie' are vowels by themselves. Insisting that today's Fidonet, 17 years into the 3rd millenium, is ASCII only is ridiculous. Every system in use todat can display an 'ö' (o with diaresis). even yours. You just need to configure it properly. Your refusal to do so is egotism on your side.
