WD> There have been a number of discussions about this -- are mobile nodes WD> real nodes or are they points?
There has been no discussion. On the occasion of an unortodox entry in the R20 RIN section, I vented my opinion on Private nodes. You acknowledged it in Satti style with "I know your opinion". That is not discussion.
WD> I decided
By decree? Just like that, without consulting your peers or your constituency? Are you now the Pope of Fidonet?

This effectively lowers the requirement for admission in the nodelist. Out of the window goes the requirement of "the ability to send and receive netmail". Decisions with such far reaching consequences for the network should not be taken by decree of one person. Not even if that person is the ZC of the largest zone in Fidonet.
