Hello Robert,

On Wednesday May 10 2017 12:16, you wrote to me:

We don't know what the weather will be next week either. Not every uncertainty is a crisis.

We have already established thateveryoone will loose in this game. But some will loose more than others. That the separation will be nasty is a given. It is not in the interest of the 27 to give away farewell presents. The EU will insist that the UK pays what it still owes the EU due to ongoing commitments. That is not a punishment, it is just settling the bill.

The UK OTOH, will expect they get a "better deal". Better that the one that was negotiated in April last year and that would only come into effect when they stayed in the EU. The "better deal" is not going to happen.

Yes, it will hurt. The EU will loose bussines. But this is nothing new. When the relation between the EU and Russia went sauer, fruit and tulip farmers could not sell their goods any more since most of their dealings were with Russia. Lots of moaning and groaning. And then they found other markets.

Those marbles have already been counted. The EU will move on without the UK.

Cheers, Michiel
