2:292/854 stopped operating some 48hrs or so ago for reasons which were then unclear to me.
When I asked the folks at home to have a look, the message was
Disk Boot Failure. Insert disk and start again
The system for one reason or the other had attempted to reboot, when it did it did not work because the boot priorities for disks had changed ... for whatever reason. The primary boot unit was the CD rom suddenly. So we changed that to "HD".
Now, when I say "we", that means my daughter was holding a tablet with Skype in such a way that I could read the screen on my tablet here and tell her what to do.
After attepted re-boot, it booted from the wrong disk, hence change the disk sequence. Then boot went on as normal.
So far so good and the issue solved ... I thought ... on went some small talk with my family over Skype and then suddenly then system stopped again.
Only then did I have enough information to conclude there had been a temperature problem, Tommi.
So the system was powered down and left to cool off. After a long time, with an added ventilater for extra cooling, it booted OK and stayed "live".
Several hours later when checking upon it, suddenly there was a virus-warning on the screen for one of these encryption things where they then extort money from you. No clue where that comes from and if even there was an influence.
I noticed however when logging in with my point 2:292/854.1 I got a password error and am rejected. Michiel and Wilfried seem to be able to connect but no mail nor files comes along.
There upon I had the outbound directories checked and I can see all the outbound PKT-files, the nodelists, dailylst, etc... the only thing that doesn't seem to happen is the creation of a FLO-file. I have no clue "why" not.
Full back-up is available. but I dare not reauest a restore by people who've never done it.
