In all its wisdom it seemed my ISP switched my connection from ADSL to VDSL and didn't communicate about it. As everything now happens online, I couldn't search for the phone number to report a problem. The telephone directory doesn't list such number anymore either so it was a trial-and-error via a number on an old printed invoice.
Although I could see the line was OK and there was a synchronisation issue I was told a technician would pass by. That guy called within 5 minutes and said he would be around quick. 15 minutes later he already was there and had under his arm a boxed ... VDSL-modem\router. Within minutes I was operational again, but not in the fido sense. I needed some rewiring, new passwords, new wifi stuff, networked printer, ...
Figuring out the port-forwarding was a nightmare as there was a manual which, as is usually the case, has nothing about the issue you're faced with.
Got it figured-out anyway and 2 milliseconds later Tommi polled.
I'm back in business.
However, I'm not happy with the telco supplied modem\router, so eventually I may want to buy something else which has decent management options, not just basic-basic stuff.
Figuring it all out cost me the better part of the day, that sucks ... but the connection is now a lot faster ... that's nice.
