I was intending to produce something for Fidonews prior to that date.
The EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) replaces the Data Protection Directive 95/46/EC and was designed to harmonize data privacy laws across Europe, to protect and empower all EU citizens data privacy and to reshape the way organizations across the region approach data privacy.
"Harmonize" means that everyone across all the EU member states does it the same way meaning Germany is not entitled to invent its own version of the GDPR. If it does then the German interpretation will not make it through the very first appeal at the EP-level. And trust me, such an appeal will come.
