My opinions are underwritten by verifiable fact. Maps exist of the evolution of the Russian front and the Nazi-German armies had been on the run for 2.5 years prior to D-Day.
I am certain several of our Russian participants here can provide a whole lot of accurate data about the evolution, something that is broadly disregarded in the west ... and by Hollywood.
As it was, D-Day nearly dramatically went wrong. It wasn't the piece of cake which movies like "The Longest Day" and "Saving Private Ryan" are painting it to be.
