Colleagues,

Just some information what went on here the last 24-
36hrs when my system was down.

48 hours ago the system inexplicably cut abruptly a few
times without any obvious reason ... no power issue, no
thunder/lightning ... just like that. One moment it was up,
the other moment it was down ... no clean shutdown. No,
"whammo" and gone in a split second. I couldn't fault the
power-supply so it seemed the motherboard was
beginning to cave-in (13yr old and powered-up all the
time). Most likely, but I'm not 100% certain, it did
something to the C-drive as well as it clicked more than I
cared.

I decided to change both in a couple of days. And then it
cut again twice in less than an hour and rather than losing
HD-data, I decided to pull the plug. I called my RC voice
to tell him what was happening.

Years ago I bought a number of identical motherboards
for the juniors here, but they've now got iPhones, iPads,
tablets and abandoned their hardware. So I canibalised a
machine and built a newone from scratch during the
night. You know, a lot of cursing about too short wires,
different screws to fix the thing ... it shortened my life by
at least 5 days.

Then loading the OS plus everything that came with it. In
the process I discovered that I had never backed-up the
OUTLOOK.PST file since sometime 2013, but as the
current one was OK, I again thanked the heavens for so
much good luck.

Then, where's the license-key for the DNS-updater?
Where is the DNS-updater? Where's the HELP-file?

OK, so we're at the point that the DNS-updater works,
binkd is available for incoming mail. Outlook is fully
configured and working again. And D'Bridge is
functioning too.

Tuesday's DAILYLST was produced, also DAILYUTF
and the daily ZONE2-file for the other ZCs. We'rfe back
in business.

I guessed to be down for about 24hrs, it became 29.

Life is good.

Ward
