The police and military indeed are in the streets in a very small area of Brussels, but that's a gigantic game of poker because outside of that area there's nothing. Brussels international airport sees no heightened security at all.
Whoever was there, is long gone. The element of surprise has vanished.
To me the real debate now seems to be the bypassing of EU budgetary rules to hire more police, more military, more customs. It's the same security hoax as in the US after 9/11 (although this situation doesn't compare) where there's now talk about a clamp-down on the internet, civil liberties, privacy ... the same stuff all over again ...
