RB>WD> Ancient DNA Shows All Europeans Were Once Descended From Belgians...

RB> Can't be very ancient, since Belgium didn't exist before 1830 ;-)

In 57BC Julius Ceasar chronicled his northern wars in his book "De Bello Gallico" [About my wars in Gaul] in 7 volumes.

Volume-1 starts with "Gaul is divided in its entirety in three parts, of which the Belgians inhabit one, another the Aquitani, and a third those who are called in their own language Celts, but in our Gauls. They differ in language, Settings and laws. The Gauls are separated from the Aquitani by the Garonne, and the Belgians by the Marne and the Seine. Of all these peoples the Belgians are the bravest..."

So, here's the question: If Belgium didn't exist until 1830, how come according to Julius Ceasar there was an area called "Belgica" [Belgium] and the people that lived there were called "Belgae" [Belgians] ?
