As all the damage and destruction to the Parthenon happened "before" the removal of the marbles, that is highly unlikely.
Any sane person must see that this is plain looting at the same level as the Nazis looted art. The whole world agreed that stolen Nazi art has to be returned, hence why not the Elgin Marbles?
The answer is easy ... it would start a landslide of such requests ... especially the return of Egyptian artefacts including several obelisks. British, French and American museums would lose substantial parts of their collection.
