Belgium is one of the only ones after WW2 which tried to get back going without an outside [mostly American] aid plan. In 1948 it was the initiative taker of the very first union after which Schuman modeled his plan for the first union of 6 countries.
Belgium has continuously been very pivotal in European and global politics up to being the only one resisting the placement of Pqriot ;issiles on the outer borders.
You will not see our leaders elbow out others to be closer to Obama in a photo but taking the business of the country close at heart. The current government is really working hard to have a budget more and more balanced, the economy is thriving, the jobless rate is down. We have a healthcare and social program which is only bested by Sweden. people do not have to sleep in the streets [anymore] ... we try to take care of our shit.

There is often talk about language issues and I don't understand what the outsiders are talking about. The problems only arise when the French-speaking part of the Socialist party is NOT in government. Contrary to popular belief the typical Flemish parties are not that separatist as some journalists of specific publications grasping for copy to publish are willing to produce.
The reigning party at this moment is Flemish, accused to be separatist by French speaking socialists, however the former promoted a French speaking member of the Liberal party to become the Prime Minister [and doing a very good job at that].
It's not really funny when people abuse their non-knowledge to promote their non-understanding of something which basically is a non-event ... especially when the French speaking socialists are kicked out of power.

Really, football is a game between people who get paid way too much for what they're doing. De Bruyne eqrning 245.000 Euro per week taxed at 18% ... well, nice for him, but it remains a game turned into a business.
