When your host is unavailable, the DDNS _must_ return NXDOMAIN error code. Anything else is a violation of actual Internet standards.

The IPv4 address 0.0.0.0 has at least two special meanings. And it seems that you don't know neither of them.

You may know the formal procedure, but I'd like to remind it to you.
Once your node is catched with invalid IP address, it should get the "Hold" status. Whether the problem persists for two weeks, the node status would be changed to "Down", and after two more weeks the node would leave the nodelist.
